Continuous variable

A variable which is capable of taking any fractional value; that is, between any two values of the variable, however close together, we can always find an infinite number of other values of the variable. For example, between the values, 2·7 and 2·8, there lie an infinite number of values which we may find by writing numbers to as many decimal places as we wish.
