Freightliner

A door-to-door container service offered by amongst other, British Rail. The emphasis is on speed and efficiency. Loaded containers are taken by road to a freightliner terminal, then transported speedily to another terminal. Space can be reserved in advance. The containers are delivered by road from the terminal. The containers (of a fixed size) are owned by the railway but packed by the user at his own premises. They conform with international standards. most major industrial centres. The containers are loaded on to British Rail vehicles free, but there is a charge for any delay over a stated limit, e.g. fifteen minutes per capacity ton. Containers must be returned within a specified time after use.
