Defunct company

A company that has been struck off the official register of companies because it has ceased to function. This may arise after a winding-up or where, after proper formalities have been completed, the Registrar of Companies concludes that the company is no longer in existence .When the name of the company is removed from the Register of Companies it is entered in another book known as the Register of Defunct Companies, referred to colloquially as the ‘dead book’.
