Customs: landing cargo

The landing of cargo is supervised. A Customs officer ensures that all cargo landed is declared and that nothing not declared has been landed. Cargo is also examined: this is done on a selective basis. The importer or agent opens the cargo on the direction of the customs officer. Customs officers do not open, unpack or repack any goods.
